NEW YORK, NY – NOVEMBER 18, 2019 – TMS Entertainment announced at Anime NYC that MEGALOBOX 2, the highly anticipated sequel to 2018’s hit anime, MEGALOBOX, is currently in development.

The first ever teaser trailer was created exclusively for Anime NYC and was introduced to the fans by director Yo Moriyama and producer Minako Fujiyoshi. The teaser has been published on TMS Entertainment’s Facebook and Twitter accounts.

“We made MEGALOBOX in hopes that it would be enjoyed not just by anime fans in Japan but by people all over the world,” said director Yo Moriyama. “We’re excited to be able to tell everyone here in the U.S. first about Joe’s new journey seven years after his way to the top of Megalonia.”

MEGALOBOX (13 x 30 minute episodes) began as a project to commemorate the iconic manga series TOMORROW’S JOE. Highly lauded for its unique visual style and hip-hop inspired soundtrack, MEGALOBOX followed the story of a mysterious boxer Joe as he fights his way to the top of a futuristic boxing tournament called Megalonia in a dystopian society. MEGALOBOX 2 is expected to be released late 2020 to early 2021.

Bored, resigned, and unfulfilled, a young man with neither name nor past survives by fighting in underground matches of a sport called “Megalobox,” a form of boxing that utilizes powered exoskeletons. Calling himself JNK.DOG, he feels trapped in a world of crime, poverty, and ecological collapse. All that changes when he has a chance encounter with Yuri, the reigning king of Megalobox. Now, obsessed with proving himself, JNK. DOG becomes a man driven to do whatever it takes to fight his way to the top of the rankings and take on the champion.
